02Why Squeaky Hoods

The kitchen stays open. The grease goes.

Squeaky Hoods works with a simple promise: turn up when we said we would, clean the system the way we quoted it, and leave your kitchen ready to cook in and ready to be inspected.

  • A 4000 PSI washer running up to 250 degrees, on the metal not just the filters

From the sheeting to the sticker on the hood

Here is the work in the order it happens, photographed on one of our jobs. How far up the system a clean goes is what the quote sets out.

  1. We sheet the line off and pull the filters

Plastic goes over the range and down into a bin before anything comes apart. Then the filters and any removable section come out and go outside to be washed, away from your line.

A commercial hood section and a row of baffle filters stood out on a car park at night, lined up on the tarmac ready to be washed.
  2. The metal goes back to bare

The plenum, the baffles and the canopy itself, washed down to bare stainless. We aren’t a fire suppression contractor, so the suppression pipework you can see crossing these frames is somebody else’s to service.

Looking up into the inside of a commercial kitchen hood after cleaning, the plenum and its baffles down to bare stainless metal.
  3. Then up into the duct

The collar, the riser, and as far up the ductwork as the system gives us. It is the part nobody ever sees, which is exactly why it gets photographed.

The duct collar in the top of a commercial kitchen hood after cleaning, with the ductwork running away above it and bare metal around the opening.
  4. You get the paperwork

Photographs of the inside, a note of anything we found, and a dated certificate left on the hood for whoever asks to see it.
